The Application Process - General Guidelines
(Studying in the U.S.)
Before Applying
Decide if U.S. study is appropriate for you.
Consult the PAEF Educational Advising Center
Define your study and career objectives.
Ask yourself these questions:
What career path do I want to pursue?
Is employment available in this field when I return?
How can study in the U.S enhance my career?
Can I receive the same training here?
At what level would it be most effective to study in the U.S.?
Can I meet the following basic requirements?
strong academic requirement
adequate financial sources
English proficiency
Applying for Admission
Do your research using the Educational Advising Center resources or through the web and select at least 10 appropriate institutions.
Request for application materials and other information.
Take required admissions examinations (e.g., TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, SAT).
Submit your completed application forms and other requirements.
Preparing for Enrollment
Accept the offer of admission of preferred school.
Make housing arrangements.
Apply for a student visa. Consult with the PAEF Advising Center regarding your student visa application.
Prepare for departure.
• Attend PAEF's pre-departure orientation (PDO).
• Plan your travel.
• Inform the Foreign/International Students Affairs Office.
• Arrange for arrival assistance.
